Livingston Area Career Center (L.A.C.C.)
This is a two year course for high school juniors and seniors who attend an eligible Livingston County high school. Students will learn about various techniques related to wet and dry styling, shampooing, conditioning, scalp treatments, nail care, manicuring, pedicuring, hair pressing, and permanent waving. Lab work and classroom instruction help students learn the theory required for licensing. The high school student is enrolled at Unity Cosmetology College and this is where he/she will receive training that is applicable to successfully passing the State Board Licensing Exam. Students will not be able to obtain all 1500 clock hours required by the State of Illinois during L.A.C.C. class time. The time they do accumulate is based upon their attendance. He/she can take the hours earned during L.A.C.C. and apply them towards becoming a private student after graduation in order to finish their 1500 hours. Students and their parents/guardians will need to follow the same steps as private students when that time comes. For example, they will need to go through financial aid (if applying) and the enrollment process as well. Please call the Livingston Area Career Center at 815.842.2557 for more information on this program.
